Toggle the use of labels and backgrounds

(These buttons below are just for DEMO, they don't work).

Click on the map to navigate.
Set your ZOOM option:
To browse the map: select the radio-button "Browse map", select a zoom option
and click on the map where you want to zoom in/out.

Find users near click

or Search for a specific user:

results will appear below
Find users near click: this will generate a list of users in a circle, radius about 60 pixels, where you click on the map.
To find a specific user: type in a part of his/her username and click on the "search" button. On the bottom of the page, you'll get a list of all matching users in the database.
You can use the checkbox to show the last viewed result as a yellow dot on the map.
More info on search results, see below.

no background (fast)

To get user-, country- or cityname labels: check the corresponding box(es).
Click "refresh".
Height map colors the map according to height. Night map colors uses a view of the world by night as background.
If you want to browse the map quick, it might be wise to select no background.
That way the pictures are much smaller and generated much faster.

A row can be selected with the radio button, after which a map of that location can be requested by pressing "VIEW".

1. Press the VIEW button after selecting one of the results to zoom.
2. View the highlighted search result on google maps.
3. Click on the city to view users in that city.

asciimap

Usage: Add the username of a person in database to the end of the following url:
http://plewylli.sdf-eu.org/asciimap?username
On your shell you can query the asciimap with p.e. curl, wget, lynx -dump or whatever you use to browse the web.
I have a shell function which let's me type: asciimap [username]
Just add: asciimap () { curl http://plewylli.sdf-eu.org/asciimap.cgi?$1 ; } to your .profile (blanks are important)
In the end, you get something as follows:
